FAQs: Limited Authority to Teach holders
How do I access Hapori Matatū | Online Community to submit an application for a LAT?
To log into Hapori Matatū you will need an Education Sector Logon (ESL). Contact the principal of the school you are going to teach in and ask for the school's Delegated Authoriser. The Delegated Authoriser will be able to send you an invite to create an Education Sector Logon (ESL) account. Once you have an ESL username and password, use it to log into Hapori Matatū.
What do I need before I apply for a LAT using Hapori Matatū | Online Community?
Be sure to read the requirements for a LAT before applying.
Have your ESL ready as well as your preferred payment option, credit card or POLi, as you’ll be asked to pay your practising certificate fee and levy.
The fee and levy is non-refundable.
Do LAT holders have full access to Hapori Matatū | Online Community?
Your access to Hapori Matatū | Online Community will be different to that of a registered teacher. You can submit an application for a LAT online but will not have access to the conversation forum which is for registered teachers only.
Can I use the same account to apply for another LAT?
Yes, you can use the same account to apply for another LAT, if you are applying for a LAT with a specialist skill. Holders of a LAT for skill shortages can only hold a LAT for one year.
What happens if I have a LAT and then complete a teaching qualification. Can I apply using the same ESL?
Yes, but you will need to talk to the Delegated Authoriser at your school and ask them to change your ESL role from LAT to Teacher. If you have any questions please contact the Teaching Council.
