Who do I talk to if I am a professional leader and I need help with my ESL and/or getting the right ESL Hapori Matatū roles added to my ESL account?

You need to be given the Hapori Matatū ‘Professional leader ‘role for endorsing applications in Hapori Matatū, as well as having the ‘Teacher’ role which you will require for creating your own applications.

Most professional leaders have automatically had their ESL role updated by the Ministry of Education to ensure the correct role is available to endorse in Hapori Matatū.

No further action is required unless, when you are logged in, the endorsement functionality is not available. If the function is not available, or if you need to have you ESL account updated, please refer to your setting below:

Please complete the ESL38 form on the Ministry of Education website and ensure you tick the ‘Professional Leader’ box. Once completed please get the form authorised by your Service Provider contact and send the form back to the Education Service Desk to provision to update your existing ESL account or create an ESL account.

Professional leaders who already have an ESL account need to ensure it includes the Professional Leader role.

Do ESL accounts get deactivated for any reason? If so, do teachers need to go through the normal ESL request process again?

Yes. ESL accounts can get disabled if a Delegated Authoriser (DA) requests it or if the account has been inactive for more than 18 months. If your account is disabled, and you want to link your current access with your disabled ESL account, you need to contact the Ministry of Education Service Desk to enable it - you will need to know your disabled account username.
