Papers: Strategic Plan
The Teaching Council published Te huarahi atu ki te anamata: Te Mahere Rautaki | Our Path to the future: Strategic Plan 2022-2027 on 30 June 2022. This document set out our high-level vision, goals, priorities, and actions for the next five years.
The Strategic Plan was developed with input from the teaching profession including kaiako, principals, educators, advisory groups, peak bodies, key stakeholders, and other government agencies.
A key reason for proactive release of papers is to assist those affected by proposed changes and the public to understand decisions and the decision-making process. It is in this spirit that the Teaching Council has decided to provide a proactive release of relevant papers.
We have excluded papers that only contain minimal, non-material reference to the Strategic Plan or draft versions of papers that were later finalised. In addition, we have removed the names of individual submitters, though their views are summarised in the papers.
Some information in the attached papers is not visible because it has been blanked out or ‘redacted’. Any redactions are done in line with the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982, which include:
- to protect the privacy of natural persons, s9(2)(a)
- to protect information subject to an obligation of confidence, where it would be likely to prejudice the supply of similar information, or information from the same source and it is in the public interest that such information should continue to be supplied, s9(2)(ba)(1)
- to maintain the effective conduct of public affairs through the free and frank expression of opinions of members in the course of their duty, s(9)(2)(g)(i)
- to maintain legal professional privilege, s(9)(2)(h)
In these papers, most redactions are because the material is not related to the Strategic Plan (i.e., is out of scope), or to protect the names of private individuals.
