Q: How much has the Teaching Council spent on the advocacy campaign ‘Teaching shapes what matters most’?

A: The total amount spent on developing and launching the campaign was $296,306 excluding GST as of 31 May 2025. The total estimated cost for this initiative is forecast to be $400,000 excluding GST in the Teaching Council’s 2024/25 financial year, which ends on 30 June 2025.

The total estimated cost includes $104,000 for creative development, $134,000 for production of the social media, video, and radio adverts as well as other campaign assets, and $103,000 for paid media which includes TV ‘on demand’, social media, radio, and cinema advertising.

The campaign and associated expenditure were approved by the Governing Council as a key initiative under the Teaching Council’s 2024-2029 strategic plan priority to proudly communicate the value and expertise of teachers as professionals.

Where the work required specialist skills and expertise not available within the Teaching Council, external suppliers were contracted on normal commercial terms and conditions and in line with government procurement guidelines.

The total anticipated expenditure amounts to around $3.37 per teacher and was largely funded as a result of higher than anticipated non-teacher operating income in the period 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2025.
