Have your say: Ministry of Education consultation opens for the Principal Eligibility Criteria and new Leadership Advisor roles
18 August 2022
As part of the government’s response to the Tomorrow’s School Review, the Ministry of Education has been developing plans to improve leadership support across the education system.
This includes drafting the Principal Eligibility Criteria (English medium) which will provide school boards and applicants with guidance on the skills and experiences needed to successfully support a school.
The Teaching Council has been working with the Ministry of Education and others to contribute to the design of the Principal's Eligibility Criteria, and Leadership Advisor roles.
Consultation has now opened, and the Ministry of Education wants your feedback on the draft to understand if it covers the right topics, if anything is missing, and if it is fair and reasonable.
The Ministry is also interested in your thoughts on the 21 new leadership advisor roles being established within the Ministry. Your feedback will help shape these roles, where they are allocated, and the recruitment process.
You can find out how to leave written feedback online on the draft Principal Eligibility Criteria (English medium) here.
