Now that English and Māori medium ITE programmes have been approved under the new requirements, work is underway to update the requirements for monitoring, review, and moderation of ITE programmes. The Teaching Council has engaged with an external working group to develop options for consultation.

Our aim is to ensure that our quality assurance processes are timely, useful, do not place unnecessary resource burdens on ITE providers, and contribute to our overall understanding of the effectiveness of the ITE system. In developing a new model, we are seeking to maintain a learning environment where ITE providers feel safe to share any issues or concerns they may be facing with their programmes, and ensuring important data and information can be collected and analysed, and any necessary remedial actions taken. We expect to be consulting on options from April 2023. Please keep an eye out in upcoming editions of the newsletter for further information on these consultations.
