Consultation on ITE monitoring, review, and moderation
14 September 2023
We are currently consulting on proposed changes to Part Two of the ITE Programme Approval, Monitoring and Review Requirements – specifically monitoring, review, and moderation of Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes. This consultation is likely to be of most interest to tumuaki, principals, professional leaders, ITE provider peak bodies, and other stakeholders. However, some kaiako | teachers may wish to comment on the proposed changes, and we welcome feedback from everyone with an interest in this topic.
You can find links to the consultation document and a survey on our website. The consultation closes at 5:00pm on Friday 29 September 2023.
As a reminder, in 2019, Matatū Aotearoa | Teaching Council introduced the ITE Programme Approval, Monitoring and Review Requirements. We are now at a stage where most ITE providers have been using the new requirements for a few years. So, it’s now important that we monitor the new programmes and build a picture of the impact of the requirements on graduate outcomes and the teaching profession.
