Apply for a LAT

Find out how to apply for a LAT.

What you’ll need to apply

When you first apply for a LAT, you will need to supply:

  • A full curriculum vitae that shows your experience in an industry or field relevant to the application. This must also detail any curricula or assessment knowledge, or skills.
  • A written reference from one of your employers, or a practitioner in your relevant industry or field attesting to your knowledge and skills
  • Proof of Identity form

How to apply

To apply for a Limited Authority to Teach (LAT) you will need to log into our teacher portal | My Rawa and complete an online application.

Once you log in, you can scroll to the section named I want to. Click on the card called Apply for a LAT. This will take you to Hapori Matatū.

You can view our webpage on getting set up in My Rawa as a LAT.

Your access to Hapori Matatū will be different to that of a registered teacher. An application should be made well before it is needed and extra time allowed to arrange the endorsement.

The cost for a one year LAT is $132.43. This LAT fee and levy will be covered by government funding until 30 June 2028.
