Whether you’re a Principal, a Professional Leader in an early childhood service, or the head of another education organisation – you're a leader responsible for helping teachers grow and succeed.

Registration and Certification
- Ensure all teachers hold a current practising certificate or LAT before employment begins.
- Help teachers apply for an extension to teach, if needed.
- Accurately define teaching positions within your education setting.
Professional Growth & Development
- Ensure teachers are engaged in ongoing professional learning and growth.
- Keep an accurate record of PLD activities.
- Design and implement the Professional Growth Cycle to support teacher development.
- Support beginning or new teachers with a structured induction and mentoring programme.
Endorsement & Standards
- Endorse whether teachers meet the Standards | Ngā Paerewa for their practising certificate type.
- If applicable, delegate endorsement responsibilities to senior staff who hold a full practising certificate.
Conduct & Reporting
Report conduct or competence issues to the Teaching Council, including:
- If a teacher is dismissed.
- If you believe a teacher may be guilty of serious misconduct.
